Great plugin, Dimas. Everything went well from checkout to install. My clients are going to be very pleased! Thanks for all your hard work in the WordPress world.
Hi Dimas, you plugin looks great. Thank so much. I hope it will work with Simple Page Ordering I use a lot.
@Grégoire, I just did a test with the ordering plugin and it appears to work very nicely, in fact it is actually a little easier to drag things around when you are able to collapse the parents children.
Thanks a lot Dimas. I will install it tomorrow. If it is multi language ready I will send you the .pot french version. In my action I plane to start wpalchemy. We talk a lot about your great work during the last WordCamp in Paris.
I have a few updates coming next week to the Sidekick Plugin (I will make it multi-language ready), all those who already have it installed it will be the same update process you are familiar with in WordPress.
I am really just glad that people have found WPAlchemy useful.
Ok Dimas, as soon as I see the new update I will start the translation.
Yes WPAlchemy is very useful. Next action during the summer!
DImas, I just test it this morning. Works great with Simple Page Ordering Plugin. Do you plane to add this functionnality. Last thing, It doesn’t work now with custom post type (type Page). Will you add this?
@Grégoire, I will add support for custom post type (type Page) in the next release, just basically making sure it works well in any mode.
Also check out What Bugs You About WordPress, Where is Your Pain?, I am curious to know some of the annoyances that developers have with WordPress, that perhaps Sidekick can address.
Great. I will (“make sur it works well” and “where is your pain”). For how many website can I use your plugin? Is there a limit?
I will formalize the license structure in the coming days. Everyone who is currently pledging their support is getting a “Developer License” (highest available), meaning that you can use/install the plugin on any site that you are doing development work on.
Those who already have the plugin, a 0.4 release should be coming your way (via the WordPress update system). See the changelog above for the latest additions, fixes and enhancements.
Hi Dimas,
I get some strange behavior with Simple Page Ordering Plugin in Custom Post Type. If you have more child page (+20), you can’t see the ajax effect of Simple Page Ordering Plugin when you drag some page. No problem for normal page. And If I desactivate Sidekick, drag and drop works fine. If you want to have a look, I create an account on the website test for you. I will send you with Google +. Let me now.
It will really great, if you can add Drag and drop in your plugin.
Thanks
Great plugin, will be purchasing soon. I’d love to see “slugs” added to the search ability. Sometimes you know the start of the slug, but your not sure the ending.
@Grégoire, I will definitely take a look, a test account would be great and much easier then trying to reproduce on my own.
@Christian, I like the idea, ill give it try thx!
@Dimas. Thanks a lot. I will send you the login by Google+
Hi Dimas, this may be a stupid question, but does sidekick work on post/custom post admin screens as well as pages? Obviously the collapsible pages wouldn’t work, but would be handy to have the sorting/starring of posts.
@Andrew, Yes, Sidekick works with posts, pages and custom post types.
Thank you Dimas this is great! I have one feature request, is it possible to have a link to “collapse all”? thanks again! 🙂
@Michelle, I’ve added expand/collapse all icons, in addition to another useful feature for you “fast and furious” developers.
There is now a Site Visibility notice, intended to help developers (myself included) to not forget to enable search engine visibility on live websites. E.g. On your staging sites you can dismiss this notice (per hostname), and you shouldn’t see it on your live site if you have your site set to public.
@Dimas. I think, it will be really great if you add drag and drop feature :-). In any case, thanks again
Hi Dimas,
I think I found a bug — where can I send a report? Cheers, S
Please send any bug reports to dbegunoff at gmail dot com
how can i get an update? my version doesnt have automatic updates, i bought it in august of 2011.
version 0.4.3
thanks
Chris, I have sent you the latest version of of the plugin via your paypal email address.
Hi Dimas, I’m in the same boat as Chris, my version is 0.4.3 and I’m not getting updated. Email addy in this comment is my PayPal address. Thanks so much! Michelle
Never mind – it’s just not showing the update notification on my localhost version of my site. When I push it up to a live site I see the upgrade notification. Thanks! Michelle
Hi Dimas, the previous issue with custom post types (admin UI) appears to be affecting the “feedback” section for Grunion Contact Form plug-in. Not sure if it affects the plug-in bundled with Jetpack.
This plugin there a bugtracker? I met several bugs and I never got an answer by email?
Is there support?
@Amaury, I’ve just created a forum specifically for sidekick questions and support
How can i get the latest version?
@Shelomo, I’ve emailed you the latest version, but also be aware that Sidekick has it’s own automated update system, so it will self update, just like all the other wordpress plugins.
I am new to all of this but I have to say that I love the Sidekick logo dog.
Can I use it on unlimited wp installs? Or do I need to pay per install?
and
Can you disable automatic updating of the plugin? I’m a but concerned about apps/scripts/plugins automatically doing things they think they should when infact the user/owner should decide if it can check for updates and update itself etc.
Thanks!
😀
Yes, unlimited on your own wp installs and the plugin will not automatically update itself without your permission (it essentially functions like the current wordpress plugin update system).
is 0.6.1 the latest?
So, if I use it for client wp installs, I need to pay for each client website it is used on?
😀
0.6.1 is the latest version as of current
Hi Dimas,
I just got an update notice for SideKick to v0.78, which when installed links to wpuniversity.com. What’s going on?
Sidekick users .. there seems to be an issue with the auto updater built into Sidekick (as this plugin lives outside of the wordpress repository). The plugin updater interferes with another plugin of the same name in the wordpress repository .. I am working on the issue currently, and will post an update shortly.
UPDATE: I’ve made changes to the plugin which necessitate an update, for some this issue will be transparent, unfortunately for others it will require a plugin reinstall. Please contact me if you are experiencing issues.
If you have an older version of the plugin, you can resolve the problem by doing the following:
1) Login to your wordpress install.
2) Go to Dashboard > Updates.
3) Click the “Check Again” button at the top a few times until you see Sidekick version 0.600 (wp will flip from the wpuniversity 0.78 version and the original sidekick 0.600 version).
4) Upgrade to version 0.600 of the plugin.
Hi again, looks like WPUniversity came out with another version and I’m getting “update to 1.1” notices for Sidekick. I have 0.600 installed and it was doing okay up until this latest update. I’ve tried refreshing a ton but it’s not helping. Ideas? thanks!
Hi
In the new version 0.7 there is an error.
/sidekick-by-wpalchemy/presshub_updater.php on line 43
Keep up the good work! 🙂
I came here to say exactly what Michelle has.
I have v0.6.1.
Michelle and Stephan .. I’ve sent out a mailing with the latest version of sidekick which fixes this issue .. the mailing was sent to the payment email (paypal) that you used to purchase. The latest version is 0.7
Got it, thanks Dimas!
Found it! Thanks, Dimas!
Lots of errors with last v0.7
@Luca, let me know which errors you are getting .. additionally I’ll take a closer look tonight. Thank you for the report.
Ok it’s strange because before re-activating it I hade 3 more errors. I don’t remember exactly what they where. One of them I remember it complained it “could not connect with wordpress.org”
Anyway, now, in every admin view, I’ve got this:
Notice: Undefined variable: url in […]/wp-content/plugins/sidekick-by-wpalchemy/presshub_updater.php on line 43
—–
I’m using v0.7 on WP 3.8.1 – clean install
I’m getting the same error as Luca.
Hi Dimas,
I just noticed with the latest version of WooCommerce, Sidekick causes the Orders page to not display any orders. The page displays how many pages of orders there are, but not the orders themselves. Possibly this is to do with the collapse sub-pages function? Just thought I’d let you know.
Frances, I will have a look, please confirm that you are using the latest version of sidekick .. version 0.7.2
Luca and Michelle, your issue is resolved in the latest version as well.
Hi Dimas, no, I’m on 0.7 and it doesn’t give me the option to update.
Frances, send me an email at dbegunoff at gmail dot com and I’ll get you the latest version of the plugin.
Hi Dimas, On the latest version of WordPress (4.0.1) the Sidekick plugin is causing no Pages/Posts to be displayed in the control panel – the posts/pages list page shows the correct number of posts/pages at the top, but nothing displays.
Inspecting the page I see this error: “Uncaught TypeError: undefined is not a function” in load-scripts.php . When I deactivate Sidekick I see all the posts/pages correctly again.
Thanks for your help!
Michelle
… and sorry should have said, I am on version 0.7.2 of Sidekick. Thanks! M
